Emma – Senior Residential Support Worker
Emma – Senior Residential Support Worker

I have been working as a Residential Support Worker for 8 years now, and I absolutely love my job. Over the years, Care Management Solutions has equipped me with all the essential knowledge and training necessary for safeguarding and looking after children and young people in care. I’ve received continuous support from management and have always worked enthusiastically with the Supporting Adults. The opportunities for personal and professional growth within the company have been invaluable. For over a year now, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a Senior Residential Support Worker, and I’m truly enjoying this role. We are given all the training needed to excel in our daily responsibilities, and I appreciate that this training is regularly monitored and updated to ensure we’re always operating at the highest standards. I’m proud to be part of a team that’s dedicated to providing the best care for the young people we look after.

The challenges I encountered were unlike anything I had experienced before, and at times, I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, the Supporting Adults were incredibly supportive, offering guidance and advice whenever needed, which allowed me to be there for the young people in the best way possible. After some time, I was offered a full-time position during the day, with Kay Thomason, the manager, recognising the strong relationships I had built with the young people and my potential in providing the support, care, and commitment that is central to our work.
I was then enrolled in the Level 4 Children, Young People, and Families’ Practitioner apprenticeship. While I was initially nervous, I embraced the learning with the encouragement and support of both management and colleagues. I always felt that I could approach someone for guidance, and this support was instrumental in my success. I completed my Apprenticeship on December 12th, earning a Distinction, exceeding my own expectations.
During my time with Care Management Solutions, I have had the opportunity to develop new skills and deepen my knowledge in areas such as suicide prevention, therapeutic approaches, first aid, Team Teach PI training, and more. In January 2025, I was offered a senior position, and was encouraged to continue my education with the Level 5 Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare course. I enrolled in February 2025 and am currently working towards completing it with the continued support of my amazing team. I’m excited to complete this course and to further grow in my role.
